Pregnancy Yoga

The word yoga means “to yoke,” to join yourself to the infinite in communion with your Self and the soul developing within you.

Kundalini Yoga offers you the ability to constantly create inner unity: the union of our individual self with the infinite Self. The Khalsa Way is the holistic approach to pregnancy based on ancient teachings taught by Yogi Bhajan. The founding principle of the Khalsa Way is: “as a women lives, so she shall birth.” So it is important to honor yourself and your process.

The yoga practice consists of pranayam (breathing techniques), mudras (finger positioning), mantra (high vibrational spoken sound), and kriyas (set of postures with intention). These elements stimulate a process of dynamic transformation and healing. Practicing yoga helps to train a woman’s mind and body for the experience of birth. Yoga will not diminish the intensity of birthing; rather it will increase the mother’s awareness of the entire pregnancy and birth experience, and help her to make conscious, healthier choices for herself and her baby.
