Birth Doula

Your birth can be and will be as unique and personal as you want it to be. Even within a professional medical framework it is important to remember that a doctor and/or midwife cannot bring your baby through your birth canal. That is what you do. A doctor or midwife will catch the baby. You are the one who delivers your baby into this world. A medical team is there to respond to a request for medical assistance or to facilitate in the rare circumstances of an emergency that requires medical intervention.

Giving birth is an act of surrender and each birth is as beautiful and unique as a snowflake.

Allow your birth to be your birth. Know that it is also a women’s prerogative to change her mind at any point during the labor. A women’s body contains the knowledge and the fortitude to bring a child into the world. But it is important to be open and in tune with your body, so that you can listen to and act on your inner wisdom.

“Every midwife knows that not until a mothers womb softens from the pain of labour will a way unfold and the infant find that opening to be born. Oh friend! There is treasure in your heart, it is heavy with child. Listen. All awakened ones, like the trusted midwives, are saying welcome this pain. It opens the dark passage of Grace.” – Rumi

What is a Birth Doula?

Doula is the Greek word for a “women who serves”. The role of a Doula is to ensure that you are educated and informed so that you are conscious and empowered through all of your choices leading to the moment when your baby is nestled in your arms. The doula your personal advocate who has the ability to bring you back to your center (your place of power and inner knowingness) she will also be able to help create and hold the sacred space for you to unfold into the beauty of the moment. It is important to note that a doula is not a qualified midwife and does not assist the mother in any way medically.
